The Lighthouse

Hello all,

I just wanted to share The Lighthouse by Bent Creek:

001

So here’s the story, my parents are moving out of the home I grew up in this year. They have lived there for almost 50 years. My mom has begun cleaning out years and years of stitching.

We started with this. It was in a drawer and my mom had most of it stitched. She was stitching it for our family cottage and just never finished it. All I had to do was the bottom of the lighthouse, the rocks, and some of the water. Done!

I have given it back to my mom so she can get it framed and hopefully it will be hanging in our family cottage this year.

Since my mom has a room full of stitching and she will end up giving most of it to me, I will be sharing more in future posts. There is ALOT!

Have a great day everyone!

  1. What a lovely joint project! I bet it reminded you of times at the family cottage. Thinking of you!

  2. What a great piece and extra special because you have both worked on it. A wonderful addition to your family cottage.

I can’t wait to see what’s next on the “just found in the stash pile” (and don’t we all have one?).

  3. Maureen that is great that you will be finishing projects for your mom. Make sure you put both initials on each one since it was a joint project. It was so nice to see you in Virginia Beach! I hope the next time won’t be so long.

  4. Donna has a great idea to put both your initials on it! I love it when projects get finished…it’s so inspiring to see them get done. I know it must be bittersweet to see your parents clean out so many decades of memories. I am thinking of you!
