So I experimented with dyeing some tags and thread spools in coffee.
The darker ones I dyed with instructions I found online using coffee, vinegar, and steel wool. The lighter ones I just soaked in coffee. I dried them in the sun for about 20 minutes. I flipped them over every 5 minutes to make sure they dry evenly. I like how the lighter ones turned out and that is how I am going to dye them in the future. I am not happy with the darker ones and definitely won’t be using the vinegar and steel wool again.
I took some of the lighter ones and made these:
Love them! They can be scissor fobs, ornaments, or whatever you want. I personally am going to use them as ornaments of course. I stitched these with my dyed threads. I am thinking of lots of small designs I can put on these. Since I love how these turned out I will definitely be making some more.
I also wanted to quickly share a new pattern today:
A Patriotic Bunny
I just listed this in my etsy shop along with some needle minders. If you would like to take a look go to http://www.etsy.com/shop/stitchorizeit.
Have a great week everyone! Stitch on!
Just a quick share today. I was playing with needleminders last week and made these:
I had ordered scrabble pieces and covered the top. I like the old music notes. They seem like a good size to hold needles and pins. I really like how they turned out.
What do you think? A stitcher can never have too many needleminders. Am I right?
One other quick thing I wanted to share and that is Pine Tree Inn by Little House Needleworks:
This is my 5th SAL with Robin. Each time I stitch one I love it even more than the one before. So I am going to end up with 12 stitched Little House Needleworks ornaments this year and I am going to love each one of them.
That’s all for today!
Have a great rest of your week!
Don’t get too excited, I only have 2 today. I feel as though my finishing pile is growing and I need to get it together. So a little at a time and here is what I have today:
Friends Gather by The Trilogy:
I made this sweet design for my sweetest friend, Robin for her birthday. I made it into a little pillow for her to display.
I also stitched and finished the stocking reindeer by Sharon of It’s Daffycat:
I love these little reindeer and have stitched a few of them. This will make a nice addition to my tree this year.
That’s all I have today and I hope to have more finishes to show you all in the near future. I just need more time to get in there and get them done.
Have a great weekend FULL of stitching!!
I hope everyone is well today. I just wanted to share my 1st 3 SAL’s that I finally finished. Wow! It seems like a long time since I have actually finished something. Here are Peace on Earth, Snowy Winter, and Joy to the World by Little House Needleworks:
I thought these were a little big for ornaments so I made small pillows to put in my cubby. Love them!
I have stitched #4 and it is Snow in Love by Little House Needleworks:
I love this one too and can’t wait to finish it.
I was priviledged enough to do some more finishing for my dear friend, Robin. These are the ornaments I finished for her:
I love her stitching and get excited to see what she sends me. Thanks again Robin for trusting me with your stitching. I treat it as I would my own. LOL!
Have a great weekend full of stitching my friends!!!
I hope everyone is well! I have a very quick post today to show you my 3rd SAL finish.
It is Joy to the World by Little House Needleworks:
So far I have loved every one of the SAL designs I have stitched. I stitched this angel when my Dad had his heart surgeries. It is going to remind me of the obstacles he has overcome to get where he is now and I thank god everyday.
That’s all I have for today. I told you it was quick!
Have a great stitchy weekend all!
Hope everyone is well today!
I wanted to share my 2nd SAL finish today. It is Snowy Winter by Little House Needleworks:
I really love this one. I think it is because of the pine trees with the snow. I left off the border because I thought it would look better without it. It is going to be an ornament so that way it won’t be huge. I am excited to be adding 12 of these to my Christmas collection. I will be starting to finish them soon. I love every one of these designs and it is hard to choose which 12 to stitch now.
I also wanted to share my little snowman tag:
Cute right!!! I did change him up just a little bit. My friend, Donna, sent me the patterns and supplies to finish these. Thanks so much Donna! I can’t wait to stitch up the rest of them.
That’s it for today! I’ll be back soon to share the 3rd SAL.
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!
Thank you all for the prayers for my Dad. 2 surgeries later, he is doing well and hopefully will be home soon.
So I decided that this year I was going to alternate each month with stitching some of my bigger projects in hopes of getting them done. For February I worked on Dwelling Place and although I didn’t get as much done as I wanted, here is my progress none the less:
I will start working on this come April and hopefully get a lot more done.
I also wanted to share my new obsession and that is thread spools. I have so many projects I want to do with them. So I wanted to share my first ones with you. I made wine corks and wine charms:
I have more projects in the works so I will share them here as I make them. I am so excited about making them that I wish I could make them all now but there are a lot and time is not on my side right now.
I do see a thread spool blog post in the near future.
Have a great weekend with lots of stitching!
